Characterised by lush rolling hills and charming historic towns, the Blackwood River Valley is breathtakingly picturesque and naturally beautiful. It's particularly beautiful in springtime, when the wildflowers and local award-winning gardens put on a dazzling show of colour. At night, clear skies give stargazers an awe-inspiring view of the constellations, and by day art-lovers will discover outstanding craftsmanship in the local galleries. Food and wine lovers will be delighted by the array of products on offer for tasting throughout the region which is tied together by the Blackwood River; the longest continually flowing river in Western Australia.
Balingup and Nannup
Just a three-hour drive south of Perth, will bring you to Balingup. The town’s friendly scarecrows welcome visitors to the Blackwood River Valley, and from here, you can follow a delightful scenic drive along the banks of the mighty Blackwood River to the picture-postcard village of Nannup.
Bridgetown, Greenbushes and Boyup Brook
At Nannup, travellers can then take the Brockman Highway to Bridgetown, the Valley's largest town. From here, there are two short and very pleasant scenic drives to either the historic mining town of Greenbushes or Boyup Brook, the home of country music and rodeo in the South West.
