Action and Adventure

Whether it's activity with a serious measure of adrenalin that you're after or the achievement of completing a great walking trail, Australia's South West offers adventure for all tastes from gentle walks to the thrill of skydiving.

Aquatic adventure activities include: surfing; kite boarding; windsurfing; white water rafting; fishing; scuba diving; snorkelling; sailing and canoeing. Land bound activities include: four wheel driving; caving; horse riding; mountain biking; rock climbing; hiking and abseiling.

All activities are enjoyed against some of the world's most inspiring scenery and stunning natural views.

Scuba Diving and Snorkelling

With an extensive coastline, Australia's South West is a paradise for divers and snorkellers, and abundant marine life can be viewed, often in turquoise water. Shipwreck dives provide another outlet for the adventurous. Western Australia's most famous prepared wreck, the battleship HMAS Swan, is at Dunsborough and is said to give divers a real adrenalin rush. The largest wreck in the state is HMAS Perth which is sunk to 36 metres at Albany. Off Bunbury is the Lena Dive Wreck previously an illegal fishing vessel.

Caving

Australia is an ancient land, and those who enjoy exploring this side of the landscape will find caving fascinating. The limestone caves of the Margaret River Wine Region are recommended for enthusiasts and offer a variety of tours.

Up, Up and Away

See Australia's South West from above. Get a whole new view on this beautiful landscape from the front seat of a plane or helicopter, from a micro-light or with a parachute strapped to your back. A variety of 'highflying' tours and opportunities are available throughout the region.

Hang gliding is a popular past time from the spectacular cliffs at Shelley Beach in the West Cape Howe National Park or the Wind Farm also near Albany (dependent on wind direction).
