Great Southern Wine Region

The sheer size of the Great Southern Wine Region, with its five sub-regions of Denmark, Frankland River, Mount Barker, Porongurup and Albany, means it is blessed with a variety of soil types and weather conditions. This results in distinct characteristics in many of the classic grape varieties.

The Great Southern Wine Region has something for all tastes. In particular, Shiraz and Riesling have been standout varieties, while Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon are also beginning to receive critical acclaim.

Note: Wine tastings add to your blood alcohol concentration.
As a guide, within any one hour period, five standard 20ml tastes of wine will put you dangerously close to the legal limit (0.05%).
So either buy a bottle for home, nominate a skipper or catch a bus tour.
