National Parks

Boranup Karri Forest, Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park With a total of 24 national parks, a large proportion of Australia's South West’s beautiful landscapes and natural attractions are protected, which means they’re also the best places to observe native flora and fauna.

To help preserve these unique natural environments, please stay on the walk trails and take all rubbish away with you. When you are travelling through remote areas, advise the local park ranger, check information about track closures, and always pay close attention to road and weather conditions when driving.

The national parks are all managed by the Department of Environment & Conservation (DEC) and a variety of facilities have been provided for visitors. In some areas, park passes are required to visit a national park. These can be purchased from DEC offices and some visitor centres.

A great place for a picnic or barbecue, relaxing in the shade of the giant tuart trees and exploring the other natural species of trees and plants. Paths lead you through the bush to the coast or climb to the lookout for great views of coastline, bush and town.

Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park

Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park is an area abundant with native wildlife, where 60 species of birds have been recorded. Dolphins are often sighted playing on the southern and western sides of the peninsula.

Wildflower Picnic Site

A 15 kilometre return walk trail which links Greenbushes to the award-winning Bibbulmun Track (which stretches 1000 kilometres from Perth hills to Albany). Starting from the Eco-Cultural Discovery Centre, the Loop passes through a mixture of jarrah and marri forest (wildflowers in Spring), passing a natural swimming pool, granite rock waterfalls, and Mount Jones Dam.
