Capel
Capel takes its name from the Capel River which was given this title by Mr Bussell, an early settler of region, after a cousin, Miss Capel Carter. The Aboriginal name is for the area is "Coolingnup".
The majestic tuart trees surrounding Capel are part of the last remaining naturally occurring tuart forest in the world. Enjoy the serenity of the drive through the forest to Peppermint Grove Beach, a quiet seaside hamlet with beautiful clear waters for swimming, diving and fishing.
As a part of the Geographe Wine Region, Capel is producing quality wines along with delicious cheeses.
