Cowaramup
Cowaramup is a charming town hidden in the centre of the Margaret River Wine Region. During the 1930s Cowaramup was a timber town in the 1930’s and is named by the local Aborigines after the purple crowned lorikeet, the Cowara.
With easy access to the surrounding wineries, beaches, surf and bush, Cowaramup is an ideal base from which to tour the Margaret River Wine Region.
Beef, sheep, dairy and vineyards all thrive in the area around Cowaramup and visitors are welcome to have a look at and gain an insight into the workings of each industry. Tasting of the local cheeses and fudge is a highly recommended activity, and you can also taste organically grown olive oil. There are a large number of well known boutique wineries surrounding Cowaramup just waiting to be explored. Visitors will also find arts and crafts on sale in the town, prolific birdlife in the surrounding area, as well as dazzling wildflower displays in season.
