Discover Albany Foundation (DAF), is The Local Tourism Organisation (LTO) for Albany and the surrounding regions.
It is the collective voice of the Albany Tourism Industry, for the distinct purpose of destination marketing of Albany and the Great Southern region.
DAF has been established as a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee. The Board comprises of committed tourism business operators in the Great Southern; they seek to provide a sustainable, long term direction and support and operation of destination marketing for the Region. In essence, this is to be ‘for the industry by the industry’.
It has taken a while to establish DAF and to finalise a working relationship with Discovery Bay Tourism Precinct Ltd (DBTP) the operator of Discovery Bay. Suffice to say that the Board of DBTP and its parent organization, the Jaycees Community Foundation, are supportive of destination marketing for the region, and have committed to contribute funds by way of a % of revenue to DAF.
As DAF is to be an industry-led organization, it will be membership owned and driven with 100% of membership fees and contributions directed to marketing the Region. That said - and particularly in the early years - DAF will collaborate with the Local Councils and Shires in the Region, and Australia’s South West where their current funding for tourism can be leveraged with DAF funds for targeted destination marketing programs.
