Roelands Village

Roelands Village

A former Aboriginal Mission, now cultural village, accommodation and function facility near Ferguson Valley.
Located on the Collie River in the Bunbury Geography Region, approximately 1.5 hours south of Perth this secluded village offers self-contained refurbished timber cottages, village facilities, bushwalk trails and spectacular countryside, a corporate training venue, and short stay accommodation for families, schools and groups, making it the ideal base from which to explore the South West region.

Accommodation includes 15 houses located in the central Village precinct surrounded by the Roelands Farm and the majestic rolling Seven Hills. There is a large function venue and commercial kitchen that can accommodate up to 100 people.

Roelands Village is a nationally significant heritage site set in a majestic environment surrounded by the rolling Seven Hills. Formerly a Mission housing Aboriginal children, removed from families, and the base for one of Western Australia’s most successful citrus fruit exporting businesses, the Mission today has been transformed into a happy, productive and welcoming place which the former ‘Mission kids’ now run.

Woolkabunning Kiaka means “Been there, left and returned to the place of many hills.” The Village looks to create a positive place of healing and development for the children of the mission and their families. Roelands Mission was home to over 500 stolen generation children. Today it is about creating an area where culture can be rediscovered and opportunities can begin to grow, and to provide opportunities for guests to interact with and learn about the Roelands Mission story and Aboriginal cultural heritage.

Roelands Village sits on 500 acres of land boarded by the Collie River. The rich soils have been famous for generations for producing some of the most flavoursome fruit in WA with lemon, limes and oranges. The farm is now a working bush tucker farm with wattleseed, pepperberries and macadamias.
