Boranup Forest

Boranup Forest

Towering karri trees strewn across the Margaret River Region, the sunlight dappled through the trees is a sight to behold.
This isolated forest of karri trees offers one of the most beautiful drive trails in the region. The trees, which are the third tallest species in the world, tower over you and partially block out the sun, creating a beautiful mottled light in the understory. It’s the only stand of karri forest along the stretch of coast between the capes and is a regrowth forest, just over 100 years old.

The forest is an easy 25-minute drive south of Margaret River town along Caves Road. The Karri Lookout on the eastern side of Caves Road is an ideal spot to enjoy and photograph this amazing forest as it undulates across the valley. Boranup Drive is a fantastic tourist drive. With its hard limestone base, it is suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. The drive winds its way through stunning forest and loops back to Caves Road.
