The South West region is becoming a mecca for mountain bike and cycling enthusiasts as many of the towns invest in trails and infrastructure. There’s an outstanding network of trails that take casual riders and serious mountain bikers into the heart of the region's wildflower country and native forests.
With a Mediterranean climate ensuring ample sunshine and plenty of untouched landscapes, a biking holiday is sure to be memorable. Who doesn’t love the idea of biking in the morning and sitting down to a beverage or gourmet lunch in the afternoon? We’ve provided some of the top trails below, however we suggest visiting the Trails WA website for a full list.

The region’s longest off-road trail
The Munda Biddi Trail is a world-class, nature-based off-road cycling experience spanning 1000 kilometres from Perth to Albany. The mountain biking equivalent to the Bibbulmun Track, the Munda Biddi has sections to suit all mountain biking abilities. The trail winds through unspoilt river valleys and magnificent forests with purpose-built campsites and roomy camp huts along the way. Munda Biddi has made it into National Geographic's Top 10 Cycle Routes in the World.
Top Trails in the South West
Ray’s Trail, Collie
A moderate 8km, tight twisting cross country mountain bike trail on the outskirts of Collie.
Grizzly Trail, Mt Lennard, Wellington NP
This forest trail is the highlight of the Mount Lennard mountain bike trails. Narrow with obstacles and technical mountain bike features, this difficult 6km trail suits those up for a challenge.
Big Pine, Bramley Forest, Margaret River
Big Pine is the jewel in the crown of this great network. The seriously fast and flowy trail has lots of influences from Rotorua in New Zealand. Turn left at the bottom for a short, steep climb up to do it again.
Wadandi Track, Margaret River
Formally known as “Rails to Trails”, this path is open to cyclists and showcases the heritage of the former Busselton to Flinders Bay Railway. The track takes you through some of the most beautiful natural bush, farmland and vineyards.
Town to Beach, Margaret River
An easy 12km cycle along a sealed pathway between Margaret River township and Prevelly, on the coast.
Old Timberline and Sidings Rail Trails, Nannup
This 37km trail is an easy one day cycle with an overnight hut on the bend of St John Brook. This scenic trail ranges from windy walk trail to old timber roads.
Relentless Blue, Pemberton MTB Park
A challenging technical trail that climbs the hillside overlooking the Pemberton Pool and swoops down the other side returning alongside Swimming Pool Brook. The trail has many trail elements traversing stunning Karri forest on hero dirt, Karri loam
Denmark to Nornalup Heritage Rail Trail
This 54km scenic coastal trail features a variety of forest, farmland and coastal heathland views. Distinct sections are suitable for bikes.
Ellen Cove to Albany Port, Albany
This dual-use cycle pathway is one of the best ways to see the beautiful coastline of the historic town of Albany.
Albany Downhill Mountain Bike Trail
A purpose-built downhill track for mountain bikes, right in the centre of Albany on Mt Clarence. The 700m trail has several unique features and offers fantastic views of the beautiful King George Sound.
