Despite being the most visited place in the State after the capital city, the South West has managed to retain its relaxed pace and provide a destination which allows visitors the opportunity to slow down and unwind. There’s even some pockets of the region which lack mobile connectivity, providing the rare opportunity to truly switch off and spend some time reconnecting with loved ones.
Here's just some of the ways you can Relax and Reconnect in the South West.
Fun with little ones
Tasty treats? Check. Cuddly animals? Check. Epic playgrounds? Check. The South West is well equipped for a family vacation. There’s plenty of activities for the family, plus most of the breweries in the South West are very kid-friendly, with huge playgrounds and plenty of grass for lawn games!
The classic beachside holiday
The numerous pretty, coastal hamlets of the South West offer a secluded coastal escape. Dotted along the region’s coastline, many of these villages have been frequented by families and fisher people for generations. Try Peppermint Grove, Myalup and Binningup for long sandy beaches, swimming, fishing and snorkelling. Peaceful Bay, located west of Denmark, is ideal for families as the ocean water here is calm. The clear water offers snorkelling opportunities and beach fishing often proves fruitful.
Wellness and day spas
There’s numerous day spa and wellness facilities in the South West, from the polished interiors of international resorts and massage tables with views of the ocean, to secluded wellness retreats in beautiful forest settings. Check with a local visitor centre for their recommended list of spa facilities in each town.
The South West is the go-to destination in WA for weddings, anniversaries and romantic escapes. The summer season sees many couples ‘tying the knot’, while winter is a beautiful time for red wine by the fire.
